Class, I disagree that goals are everchanging in life. Work breakdown structures (or smaller goals) are usually put in place as stepping stones to get us to our long-term goals. As life happens, we may be forced to reassess and revise the initial plan, but the goal typically remains the same. For example, let’s say I set a SMART goal for myself to earn better grades in school. In order to reach this goal, I decided to meet with each of my instructors once a week for an entire semester. Now let’s consider a change in my work schedule only allows me to meet with instructors every other week. While the end goal of earning better grades would remain the same, the path (or plan) to achieve the goal would change.
In other words, small everyday changes in life have more of an impact on your pathway to goals, rather than the end goals themselves. Your thoughts?
